Comprehensive Vision Examinations
|
During your comprehensive eye examination, the doctors will determine the most accurate prescription for your eyes through computerized testing along with a careful refraction where we take as much time as needed to make sure your prescription is correct and that you won't feel rushed.
An equally, if not more important, part of your annual examination is the assessment of the health of your eyes. During this part of your visit, Drs. Duncan examine all parts of the outside and inside of your eyes to look for signs of any diseases that may cause blindness, including glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic/hypertensive retinopathy, and macular degeneration. |
Many eye diseases that cause blindness, such as glaucoma, actually have no symptoms that a person can see or feel in the earliest stages of the disease. Thus, it is possible for a person to be slowly losing his or her vision without realizing it until significant and irreversible damage has occurred. This is why it is important for every person to have an annual eye examination, even those who do not wear glasses or contact lenses.
Drs. Jeff and Mylinh Duncan are both TPA (Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent)-certified to
diagnose and treat eye diseases and disorders. When a condition such as bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye), iritis (inflammation of the iris), allergic conjunctivitis, dry eyes, or corneal ulcer occurs, the doctors will prescribe medications to treat the disease and monitor your healing progress. We encourage you to contact our office immediately should any condition arise that causes pain, swelling, sensitivity to light, redness, visual flashes, spots or floaters, or any vision loss.

Contact Lenses
Types of Contact Lens available:
The best solution to seeing without glasses or laser surgery is contact lenses. With the newest contact lens designs and materials available today, many patients who may have had trouble wearing contacts successfully in the past are enjoying contact lens wear once again.
During your contact lens examination, Drs. Duncan will determine the type of contact lens that best fits the curvature of your eyes and provide you with the most accurate vision while ensuring that your eyes remain healthy with the lenses. Drs. Jeff and Mylinh Duncan recommend yearly contact lens examinations even if your prescription has not changed and you experience no discomfort. It is vital to your eye health to make sure that your contact lenses fit properly and are allowing enough oxygen to reach the cells of the cornea. Some patients with corneal damage do not complain of any symptoms due to decreased corneal sensitivity from contact lens overuse or abuse, or because they are wearing a thicker, and less breathable lens. When the doctors look at the cornea under high magnification they can determine whether or not a patient has or is starting to develop any complications from wearing contact lenses.
- Daily disposables (now available in astigmatism and multifocal lens designs!)
- Two-week replacement disposables
- One-month replacement disposables
- Color contact lenses
- Custom soft contact lenses for high prescriptions
- Toric (for Astigmatism)
- Bifocal/Multifocal Contact Lenses
- RGP (rigid gas permeable lense)
- Hybrid soft contact/RGP lens. This lens is a new technology that has a RGP lens encased within the soft lens. This is a lens that provides the better optical clarity of a RGP lens, with the comfort of a soft lens design. Ideal for astigmatism and multifocal prescriptions.
- Scleral contact lenses for certain conditions such as irregular astigmatism and keratoconus
